3 Online Marketing Strategies For Network Marketing

LinkedIn recently listed ‘Digital Marketer‘ as the top in-demand job for 2021. As anyone who has been involved in Network Marketing can confirm, to be successful in this industry you have to treat it like any other business.

It is a business, just as much as any franchise or startup is and everyone wants to know how to increase your network marketing business.

Well in 2021, every business is going to revolve around digital marketing, or what we call in our business, ‘Digital Network Marketing‘.

The fact is, whether you own a local franchise or you work from home, the evolution of modern technology has changed the way businesses operate. Even more so after the Covid-19 pandemic.

A lot of people are always asking, what is the difference between network marketing and digital marketing?

The simple fact is network marketing and digital marketing go hand and hand. If you are going to build a successful network marketing business , you are going to build it online.

Your challenge then, is to create a comprehensive digital marketing strategy and actionable plan that will generate tons of qualified prospects to your business.

Ultimately, you’ll convert that traffic that starts generating leads and sales by learning how to promote your network marketing business online.

How To Do Network Marketing Online

So, how do people market their business today in a time when the customer is in control now more than ever? People have changed how they research and consume information, products and services, so you have to reach them where they are.

Digital marketing continues to be the most effective way to reach prospects and customers. Building a comprehensive digital marketing strategy is the key to improving your bottom line and getting a return on your investment.

If you need help getting good leads for your network marketing business, we can help. Here are a few tips to help you implement a comprehensive digital marketing strategy. Your strategy will help you reach prospects online and grow your network marketing business.

CONTENT MARKETING

Companies blast us with information all the time, but most of the time it’s not very relevant or valuable.  Flyers and ads from our mailbox go in the trash, and most emails go to the spam folder.

Content Marketing is an approach focusing on creating and distributing content. Relevant content will help you attract and retain your target audience.

Create Content

Instead of putting 1000 flyers in the parking lot at the mall and hoping someone may be interested, you create content that targets those people specifically. Create useful content that helps them with their search. If we offer consistent, valuable information to potential customers, they ultimately reward us with their business and loyalty.

Tell a Story

The best network marketers in the world leverage the power of storytelling to improve their brand and expand their marketing. People connect to stories, and empathy is a powerful tool for building trust. There is a saying that goes,

“Facts tell, and stories sell!”

So much so in fact, that people remember stories 22x more than facts and figures alone!

Know Your Customers

There are three core things you need to get started with digital marketing: know your customers, tell your brand story, and set your goals. Based upon those you will know what content your customers are looking for, where they spend their time, and how to measure and analyze reporting.

For example, my goal is to provide relevant, useful content that helps people be more successful with their business. Video is the best form of content for me, but there are many types to choose from. I provide content that I think will reach my audience where they are.

SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING

Social Media Marketing is a powerful way for your network marketing business to reach prospects and customers.  Your customers are already interacting with brands through social media. Use social networks such as Facebook, Instagram, or YouTube, to connect with your audience.

Social Media has changed how people communicate and it’s changing how organizations do business. Social Media network marketing needs to be an integral component to any successful network marketing business plan. People don’t care about brands, or even about products, as much as they care about other people.

Who’s On Social Media?

Social Media Marketing involves creating and sharing content on social media networks where your target customers spend time. You’re not posting randomly, make sure you’re using your content to achieve your marketing and branding goals.

The primary tasks for social media are posting text and image updates, and videos. Most platforms also offer paid advertising. Social media is the best way to distribute the the unique content you create with your content marketing strategy.

I’m constantly releasing content on all of my social media platforms, but it’s not all the same content. Each network has it’s own demographic, so to reach my entire audience I have to use them properly.

For example: Instagram has a significantly younger demographic than Facebook and Twitter. Pinterest is very visual and is more popular with women. YouTube is used primarily by the millennial generation. Know your market, and go meet them where they are.

Creating Content on Social Media

Creating the content on your social media platforms can get tricky after a while. You may find yourself struggling to find post ideas that are appropriate for your business.

Before you do anything else, consider your target market. Figure out who you’re talking to and where you want to talk to them. From there figure out what’s going to interest and entice them.

VIDEO MARKETING

Video has been exploding for quite some time, but in 2021, it’s going to a whole other level. About 78% of people watch videos every single week, and 55% of them watch videos every single day. Video traffic in 2021 will account for over 80% of all internet traffic. On top of that, four times as many consumers would rather watch a video about a product than read about it. That’s big.

Now with over a billion users online, over 250 million hours of video every single day are being consumed. That’s why YouTube, it’s the number two biggest search engine and over 250 million hours of video every single day. So the numbers say it all. The US consumer in 2021 will have an average of 9.5 video streaming apps installed on their phone.

Nearly three out of four people who get an opportunity to see a product in action, like an explainer video, will buy that product. That’s like having a 75% conversion rate!

Also, people want to do business with someone they, know like and trust.  The more real and authentic you are, the better it is, it helps build the trust and likability factor so much faster. It bridges the gap between you and your future customers. You never know when you’re one connection away from a whole different world.

EMAIL MARKETING

When you consider the number of emails you get rid of without reading them, it can seem like email is a useless platform. However, according to the Direct Marketing Association, email marketing’s ROI is around 4,300%. So not only does it have the broadest audience, but it’s cost effective.

With a good content marketing strategy in place, email may be more powerful than ever. Everyone has at least one email address and most check emails regularly on all of their devices.

This isn’t about email newsletters that end up unread in the spam and trash folders. Those are almost completely ineffective. What does work is good email content that deepens your relationship with your audience.

Email is another important content distribution channel, and one that connects you directly with members of your target audience. Stay in touch with your community and build stronger relationships long term.

CREATING A COMPREHENSIVE DIGITAL NETWORK MARKETING STRATEGY

We’ve only barely touched on the basics of combining network marketing with digital marketing. This probably isn’t quite enough detail for you to go and start implementing a new digital network marketing strategy right now.

My goal is to help you change your thinking. There are so many more tools at your disposal to grow your business than you think. Turn your focus to income producing activities online.

Start by dialing in on your target market and consider who is the most interested in your products. Once you know who your audience is, then you can figure out where they are online. At that point, it’s a matter of connecting your audience with your content.

When you know who your market is and what problem you can help them solve, you need to determine which digital marketing channels will work best so you can build a comprehensive plan that includes website design, email marketing, social media marketing, video marketing…you see where we are going here?

That’s more than I can help with in this post, but if you want, reach out to me directly and learn more about training or coaching options that might fit your needs. In the meantime, good luck.

Today we’re going to talk about three online marketing strategies for generating leads in your network marketing business, or any business (online network marketing tips). This is going to be going to apply, you can apply these principles to any and every business out there, so if that sounds good to you, let me know. Hey Trinity, welcome from North Carolina. Hey Lisa, thanks for joining. Hey Angela from Texas, and let’s go and get started. So you may go, hey, Darin, what do you know about online digital marketing? Well I was just like you, I was curious many years ago because I’m like, you know what? I live in a small town, I live in a town where there’s about 1500 people in the actual town, and then there’s, probably if you’ve got many, many miles, there’s 10,000 people in the county, and I wanted to be able to impact more people, I wanted to be able to reach more people.

And the great news, I mean, let’s think about the timing to where we are right now. Right now we’re watching this, it is in 2021, if you watch this on replay, I’m recording this in July. Now it doesn’t matter when you watch this, the content’s still going to be relevant, but the reason that I’m sharing that with you is because we’re coming out of lockdown, people are starting to travel, and it’s crazy busy. And what’s great about, because you always have to look at the positives in every situation, so we’re excited that we’re able to travel now and get out, but what’s happened in the last 12 to 24 months, not only do people know that now it’s more important than ever in the history, whether you’re working a job or you’re building a business, to know how to use technology in your favor.

So now the world is not just where you live, it’s not limited by the small area that you live in like I do, the world can be your customer, the world can be your prospect. And so as I was walking through, let me share a quick story before we get into the network marketing and digital marketing three tips real quick, and I’m going to give you some free resources, just like you see DarinKidd.com/Facebook on the screen, that is a completely free download that’s going to give you some tips on how to market the right way on Facebook, and it’s completely free so make sure to download that and share it with anyone that you know that will get value from that as well.

But let me give you a quick story, so I was walking through the mall last night, my wife and my daughters and I, and there was a friend of mine, there was an event for the mall, and there was a guy that I knew who was with his band and they were playing. And I hadn’t seen this guy in several years and so afterwards they were taking a break and I saw him go, “Darin, is that you?” And I looked up and I’m like, “Hey man,” we have a chat, we’re having a conversation, and I’m like, “Oh my gosh, man, I didn’t even know that was you. I was walking by and you all sounded amazing.” And he’s like, “Yeah, thanks, man, we’re trying to get out there and get more exposure, we’re going to start doing some traveling.” And I go, “Well listen, are you using online marketing? What are you doing with social?” And he’s like, “Well, I really hadn’t done a lot with social media, with any type of digital marketing.”

And I’m like, “Well, do you want to grow faster?” And he’s like, “Absolutely.” I’m like, “Well, do you want to reach more people?” He goes, “Yes, that’s why we’re here at the mall.” And I go, “Listen, how many people do you think will actually hear you walking through the mall tonight, how many people not only hear you, but take the time to come over and go, “Hey, what’s the name of your band? Can I have your travel schedule?” And he’s like, “I don’t know, we may have,” I don’t know what the numbers may be, but let’s say it’s 50 people to 100 people that walk by and very few people actually come over and say, “Hey, give me the name of your band. Hey, were can I follow you, were can I find you on social media.”

And I go, “Listen, when you start doing the right things when it comes to digital marketing and online marketing,” I go, “You could do one video. If you had somebody right now that was just videoing you live as you’re playing, what if you had another 50, 100, 200 people that started watching you online? And then what if some of those people shared it with their network?” And I go, “What if five people shared it with their network, and each one of them has 500 to 2000 people on social media, the next thing you know it’s not just 50 to 100 people in this mall that just heard you, but it’s several thousand that heard you, and now the way digital marketing, online marketing works, you can have an audience all over the world. You can have raving fans all over the world,” and I go, “Look, let me share something with you.” And I just gave him a couple examples.

I’m like, “Look, here’s something I shared on my business Facebook page,” and I’m like, “This had 1.8000 likes,” and I go, “And it had hundreds of shares, and look at the reach,” because it will show me, because it’s my page, the actual reach. So you see the likes and the shares, but the reach is even greater than that. And I go, “Look, look at this silly little TikTok video that I did, and my whole purpose was just to have fun, create some memories with my daughters, because they were like, “No way, you’re going to go viral on TikTok, nobody wants to see a middle age cringey old man on TikTok,” and what happened? Here’s one video that had 750,000 views, and still counting. It had several thousand, I think it was 4,700 comments, had 130,000 likes or hearts on that TikTok video.

And so his mind was blown, he’s like, “Oh my gosh, I hadn’t been thinking big enough, I hadn’t been thinking about how to use leverage, how to use technology, and how to get my message out to more people with what he is passionate about.” So in the last 12 to 24 months we now know there are more people than ever that are experienced, they had to go through a crash course on technology, so they’re more comfortable with it, they understand it’s the way of the future, they understand that, hey, it’s not a matter of if we may have a lockdown the rest of our life, it’s probably when we’ll have another one. And so knowing how to use- (silence)

Okay everybody, I’m back. Let me know, we had a little technical glitch, my wifi, my internet went down, so do me a favor in the comments, before I continue, let me just make sure that you can hear me okay. All right, so let’s see, the last comment I see was from Mae, I see Lisa tagged a bunch of people in the comments, so I really appreciate that, but do me a favor real quick, let me know if you still can hear me, if not I’ll have to start the broadcast over. Let’s see, okay, just a second. Appreciate your patience, technology, you got to love it when it’s working. Okay, Adrian says she can hear me, thank you so much, Adrian, I appreciate that. So with that said, I’m trying to remember where I was, I got distracted. So with that said, it’s important to understand technology, understand digital marketing, online marketing, and how you can use that to grow your business and get the word out a lot sooner than later.

#1 Pay Attention to the World

So let’s go through those three online tips before my internet decides to drop off once again. All right, number one, you want to pay attention. You want to pay attention to what’s going on in the world, which I just set all of that up, and they’re going to be people on here, so let me give you a little disclaimer. Some of you are brand new in the network marketing profession, or whatever profession that you’re in, and there’s going to be some of this that’s a little more advanced, for later on as you’re building your business, that’s okay, you can go back and watch the replay and you can apply these to things when you’re ready to get that. It’s like when you walk up to a buffet, you don’t eat everything, I try to sometimes, but you take what you want at that time.

What is Digital Marketing?

And so with this, I want you to take what you can, where you are in your business right now, and I know it’s lagging just a little bit, so I’m hoping everything’s still okay on the internet side. So what is digital marketing? First of all digital marketing is also called online marketing. Just a different way to say it, that’s digital marketing. Digital marketing, and I’ll look the definition up, because I’m like, you know what? I know what I look at digital marketing as, my definition in my own head, but what is the actual definition? Here’s another one that I saw, digital marketing is the marketing of goods and services via digital technologies. And why is digital marketing so important. Because with traditional advertising and traditional marketing, you don’t engage with your customers, or potential customers, like you can when you’re using online methods, and that’s why I love digital marketing, online marketing, however they want to label it, whatever they want to call it, I like the fact that you can engage with your potential prospects.

People want to do business with people they know, like, and trust, so not only does it allow you to reach new people faster, but it allows you to build relationships faster through that engagement, whether it’s social media, whether it’s through comments, whether it’s through direct message, whether it’s through videos, lives, just like right now, it allows you to build those relationships a lot sooner than later, it allows you to provide value, and when you provide value, you build a following, you build raving fans, and then that’s when they want to support you.

People don’t want to be sold, people like to buy, and when you’re providing value all the time and you’re getting to know them and they know, like, and trust you, you’re able to engage with your audience, it makes that process so much simpler, and it’s not you having to reach out all of the time, yes, that’s prospecting, that is very important when you’re building your business, but also when you start attracting people to you, use an attraction marketing, digital marketing, online marketing, how would you like to have a constant influx of leads, like hot potential prospects that want to hear what you have to say and what you have to offer on a day to day basis? That’s exactly what digital marketing, online marketing, when you do the right things, that is what will happen.

Now, let me also give you a quick little another disclaimer, and let me know if this is making sense to you in the comments, because I want to make sure that you still can hear me and I’m not just talking to myself because of the technical issues, but let me also say this, don’t get discouraged if you have made attempts at using social media, or online marketing, and it’s not really going like you want it to go.

It’s like me and you sitting down and you pull up a game of Monopoly. So you pull out a game of Monopoly, and all of a sudden I say, “You know what? Monopoly, it stinks, I don’t like this game. I’m no good at Monopoly.” And then Trinity, for example, she goes, “Well, Darin, how many times have you played Monopoly?” And I’m like, “Well Trinity, you’re beating me so bad, but this is my first time playing Monopoly.” You would say, “Hey, Darin, it’s a game.” And maybe Trinity’s like, “Look, I’ve been playing monopoly for years, this is your first time, you can expect to be good on your first game of Monopoly.” So if you look at making money, having success, building your business, your network marketing business, if you look at it, I say, hey look, it’s a process, it’s just like playing a game. The more you play, the better you’re going to be.

I had someone comment on one of my social media posts the other day, and I actually know this person, and I’m going to have a conversation with them, because I didn’t want to answer it publicly, but it was a conversation about success, and they go, “Hey, I’m glad it worked for you, but unfortunately it didn’t work for me.” And the post was basically about just attempting and moving forward. And so my thing was, just because you attempted one thing and you failed does not mean that you never have the chance to succeed. As long as I’m not dead, then I’m not done. That’s the way I look at it. Look, if I woke up today, then God’s not through with me yet, and it’s not about how many times you get knocked down, it’s about getting back up. And every time you get back up you review what you did wrong, or what can you do better to improve from the previous experience, and you continue to get a little bit better, a little bit better.

So every great digital marketer, every great network marketer, every great real estate agent, mortgage broker, whatever it is, they were bad at one time. You’re going to be bad before you’re good. I’ve had some stories and memories pop up recently, when it came to my social media, and it was so bad I’m like, you got to be kidding me. No engagement, no likes, no comments, and I was embarrassed about what I put up. But I would never go back and delete that because I like the fact that you can go back to my YouTube channel from years ago and see some of the corny videos that I put up, and I’m like, I don’t want to delete that because that shows people the process that I went through to get a little bit better, a little bit that, a little bit better. So you can’t compare your chapter 20, or your chapter one with someone else’s chapter 20.

#2 Define Your Ideal Customer

So anyway, that’s what digital marketing, what it is, and online marketing, and that’s why I like it so much, because it allows all that engagement, that interaction, you build that know, trust, and like factor so much faster. Number two, you define your ideal customer. Okay, who is your ideal customer? Your prospect. There is a book called, Donald Miller, Building a StoryBrand. Building a StoryBrand. I think this is really good, when you go out and if you like to read books, or if you’re like me, I buy a lot on Audible, I have this one in book format, I have it in written format, and I have the Audible version, I was listening to it this morning, but it talks about, it’s not your product or your service that you’re selling, it’s what it does for those people. So maybe it’s a weight loss, maybe burns fat, gives them more energy, which gives them more confidence. It’s how they feel when they experience what you have to offer.

So when you really start thinking about how to get prospects in network marketing, think, okay, who is the ideal customer that my products, my services, my business relates to, what are the problems that it solves? That’s really important, because I used to think about listen, I’ve got to appeal to everyone. Well, that’s not the case. If you appeal to everyone, if you try to appeal and talk to everyone, you talk to no one. So you really want to hone in on, hey listen, what does my ideal customer look like? And the StoryBrand talks about that, you’re selling the feeling that that person is going to have after experiencing what you have to offer, confidence, energy, health, authority, whatever it may be.

And by the way, this is something that I learned a long time ago when I had a mentor of mine, he said, “Darin, stories sell, facts tell.” Stories sell, facts tell. There are statistics that show that people will remember stories 22 times more than they will facts. And you become a highly paid storyteller, whether it’s offline or online. And so as you learn to share those stories, learn to share experiences, it’s going to be much more effective. And by the way, remember, when you’re sharing stories and you’re sharing things online, 80% of what you share should be value. It should be value that you’re delivering to the people that are following you and connected to you online, connecting to you online.

How to Promote Network Marketing Business on Social Media

It’s the 80/20 rule, 20% of the time you’re doing your curiosity post, and things like that, but you’re providing value that you know that your ideal prospect or customer will get something out of. There are people that I follow on social media, whether it’s TikTok or Instagram, or whatever it may be, maybe it’s investing, some of them I follow it’s about taxes, some of them it’s about time management, some of it’s health and fitness, and what I find is I favorite the videos, I follow the people, and I find myself consistently going back day after day, week after week, because I know that I can get some bit of value out of what they share almost on a daily basis that’s going to add value to my life.

And so then what happens is you become a raving fan, you become a loyal follow up follower of that person, and then when there’s a way that you can support them, If any of you follow Gary Vee, one of the top social media people in the world, Gary Vaynerchuk, and he talks about, “Hey listen, I give so much content away,” so then when he does ask his audience to do something, they jump over hoops to get that done because of how much of an impact he has made in their life, by all of the value that he has added.

How To Promote Network Marketing on Social Media:

  • 80% Provide Value
  • 20% Curiosity Posts

#3 Use The Proper Chanel to Get your Message Out – Social Media Network Marketing

So when you’re thinking about your ideal customer, and that was, that was number two, and last but not least, definitely not least, is you use the proper channels to get your message out. You have to know how to promote your network marketing business online. You use the proper channels to get your message out. What fits you? I have one friend of mine that’s one of the top social media people out there, and she’s like, “Darin, I’ve got 600,000 people on Twitter, I’ve got 20 some thousand people on Pinterest, but Pinterest gets more people to my blog than my 600,000 on Twitter.” So what are the platforms, where does your audience hangout, your ideal prospect or your ideal customer? You don’t have to be great at every single channel. Now later on when you’re crushing it on social media, you’re crushing it with a website and all your online marketing, you have a strategy and you’re implementing everything, then you’ll get to the point where you could actually hire a team, and you can multipurpose your content.

But some of you are not there yet, where you could go on and do a video just like this, and after the video you have a team that will take some of the things that you said, put them on social media posts, they’ll make some graphics out of different things, they’ll share it on maybe YouTube, then they’ll share it on LinkedIn and share it on Pinterest, then share it on Twitter, but you don’t have to worry about all that. At least lock into one of those platforms right now and just be consistent with it. And you’re going to get better every single day, that’s why if you look at DarinKidd.com/Facebook, why did I give you a free resource with 20 tips on how to use Facebook to attract more people to you, is because Facebook right now is the biggest social media platform in the world. There’s 1.7 billion, I’m sorry, 2.7 billion, I Googled it right before I jumped on, at the time of this video 2.7 billion people on Facebook.

So do you think it’s probably important to learn a little bit about Facebook? Yes, and then you can go into other platforms. Some of you may go, hey, look, Instagram is my audience. Some of you, you’re crushing it with TikTok. So just find out what fits you and your ideal prospects and your customers the best. You have video marketing, which is exploding, you have email marketing, and again, I’m just highlighting a few things. And by the way, as you build your brand, which is you, by the way, it’s not your company, and it’s not your company’s products. It is you, you are your brand, and for those of you that have already gotten some of the basics out of the way, it’s definitely important to continue to build your list, because what if, one of the top YouTube I was just following, his whole account got taken down. Now it got put back up, but I know a lot of people were like, you got to be kidding me, why would they take it down? He didn’t violate anything thing. And evidently he didn’t, but it’s just the thing, you own your list, so it’s important to build your email list.

People think that email is dead, it’s not dead, email is growing faster than ever. Matter of fact, they’re predicting by 2023 there’ll be 4.3 billion people using email, so it’s continuing to grow. For every dollar you spend on email marketing, the average return is $42. Show me another stock, show me a stock where you can get a 42 times return on your investment. So as you build your list, there are people that you can constantly communicate with, you can add value to their life, and you’re doing that 80% of the time, but then when you do present them with an offer they’re more likely to take you up on that offer.

And then once you, again, some of you are not ready for this, but then when you get to a certain point, then you’re launching a website. So if you go to DarinKidd.com, by the way, you will see my new website, we just rolled it out just about a week ago, we’re still bringing over all the new blog posts. I mean, we’ve got probably 100 blog posts that add to that new website, but eventually you want to have a website that shares you, your brand, you have things we call lead magnets, or freemiums, where you’re adding value to people, and they go, heck yeah, I’ll give you my email address, because I want the information that you’re going to share with me to help me, which that’s what that is, being transparent. DarinKidd.com/Facebook.

When you download that, I spent a lot of time, energy, and effort. I paid people to create that once I gave them the content. We’ve edited that information, I had to pay people to put it up on a website. And you’re like, Darin, why would you provide all of that for free? It’s because I know once you download that, you and I are connected. You can unsubscribe at any point, you can unsubscribe any time, but as long as you’re on my email list you’re going to get my free blogs that go out every week, you’re going to get a video like this every single week, you’re going to get updates on new things and resources that we can send out to help you build your business even faster than you’re building it right now, achieve your goals and your dreams sooner than later. So eventually you wrap it all up, you put a nice bow on it by having a good quality website.

So again, if you’re not ready for that, there were years that I was not ready for that, but we’re giving something for everybody on this training and the blog. And by the way, if you want to, as I close this out, if you’re looking to really step up your game with social media, I did a training recently, and right now it is at a deep discount, you can go to DarinKidd.com/social, and this is where I had me, I had, let’s see, who else was on there? Brandon Cunningham, which their organization has done, gosh, 150, $200 million in revenue. I’ve got John Melton, which their organization put in 100,000 customers in the last 90 days before that training, and they built a massive social media following. I’ve got Rob Sperry, who two or three years ago was rated as the number one network marketer trainer in the entire industry. So if you total up the sales, and myself, of all the people that trained in that one little program, and I’m not saying it’s that little, it was probably a billion dollars in sales revenue, and go check out that page, great value.

And so whether you watch this on YouTube, Facebook, again, make sure you smash that subscribe button, smash the follow or like button if you got value, the way that you can help me is by helping the algorithm by just smashing the heart button and letting me know that you got value out of it. And then also in the description, so we’re going to put this up on Replay, we will put all the links, we will put all my social media places that we can connect, because I want to connect with you in every single place that we possibly can. So hope you have a great rest of your day, thanks for your patience with the wifi challenges. That’s the great thing about technology, it’s awesome when it works, and sometimes it has a few little glitches. But again, have a great rest of your day, thanks for plugging in, and the recap, one more time, number one, pay attention. Number two, define your ideal customer. Number three, use the proper channels to get your message out. So we’ll see you in the next training, have a great rest of your day.
