Introduction

Hey everyone, this is Darin Kidd. Hope you’re having an awesome week so far. Listen, excited to share with you today some tips when it comes to success that you definitely need to know. And so do me a favor as you’re joining whether it’s live, whether it’s one replay, let me know where you’re watching from and we’ll get started here shortly. And the reason that I decided to share these tips with you, and by the way, I’m not sure if we’re live or not. Let me know real quick. I know I’ve had some internet issues. I just got off the phone with them testing my internet. So hopefully it’s working okay. There we go. Now I see you’re jumping on board.

Let me check the comments to make sure you can hear me okay. I don’t like doing this at the beginning of a broadcast, but I want to make sure you can hear me okay before we continue to go forward. And the comments, there we go. Jessica, you’re live. Awesome. Well, listen, let me share with you … Hey Cindy, welcome from Myrtle Beach. Thanks for joining. And let me share with you kind of what prompted me to do this live right off the bat.

So I was interviewed yesterday on a podcast with a gentleman in Thailand who was the number one analyst in all of Thailand. And he started a podcast called My Worst Investment Ever. And so he ran across some of my YouTube videos and he’s like, “Man, I love your story and I think that you could bring some value to the podcast.” And so he interviewed me and he gave me the questions that he was going to ask me as he interviewed me. And then I went through some of these things and I shared some things that I really probably never shared before with some people on some of the lives.

Things You Can Do To Change Your Life

And I’m like, “You know what? There are people right now that need to hear this more than ever when it comes to things that they can do to absolutely change their life.” And so I’m going to share those things with you. So I appreciate you letting me know where you’re watching from. And do me a favor. If you’re on Facebook, make sure you like the page so you get notified when I go live. If you’re on YouTube, make sure you subscribe to the channel and set it up to where you get alerts when I go live as well. And then if you’re on Twitter or Periscope, you can do the same thing, but I’m excited to bring you alive every single week. I’ve been doing this the last month or two where every week I can bring you information that can help you go further faster in your business.

And a lot of this stuff is not just business. It’s also things that you can do to change your life. And I really believe what I’m going to share with you in the next few minutes can and will change your life. And so when he started interviewing me yesterday, he’s like, “Hey, look, what’s the worst investment that you ever made?” And I had to think about that and I went, “You know what the worst investment that I ever made?” Which by the way, made me a ton of money and completely changed my life, even though it was the worst investment that I ever made. And that investment was over 20 years ago, we have someone in our town, that said, “Darin, I’m going to do you a favor and I’m going to build that dream house that you want to build for a certain price.”

And he started building the house in the middle of it, he disappeared. We started noticing things were wrong like the foundation was off, the footers were off. The walls in the basement that were supposed to support a wall upstairs weren’t even touching. We wanted a 10 foot ceiling in our basement and it was a 10 foot wall. So by the time you put the drop ceiling and different things, we would have had a seven foot ceiling. It was just a mess. And so he ended up just not showing up one day and I went from debt-free, perfect credit, money in the bank, 401(k) new car, enjoying life to bankrupt, repossessed car, eventually having a repossessed car, on government assistance, applying for food stamps, depressed, went to the doctor for depression and was put on antidepressants. And really didn’t have a lot of hope to be honest with you.

I mean, I was really depressed because I’m like, “You know what? I couldn’t make it through college. I can’t keep a job. Everyone in my town knew I was bankrupt.” I wasn’t excited about my future and that’s a drastic understatement. But let me tell you some things that I learned from this. And by the way, this is something that you may have people in your life that they need to hear this today and it may be for you. I would love to know if you have an aha moment in the comments below. I would love to know that. And by the way, I’m going to go ahead and put back up the banner if you’ve not downloaded this free resource, make sure you do that.

But here’s what happened. There’s a lot of people right now, one thing on this could actually change your world. And so I don’t want you to have to kind of go through what I went through. I want to hopefully save you some time, energy, and effort what I’m going to share with you. But I really believe it can make an impact in your life because I was going to come on here today and train on some business building principles. But I think this is actually more impactful right now with all the things that we’re going through.

Don’t Be a Victim!

Now, first of all, when the guy walked up building a house and ended up bankrupt, it was one of the best things that ever happened to me eventually. But the first thing I had to do was not be a victim. I had to stop being a victim because at first I wanted to blame him on everything that he did to me and my family. When in reality, it was just as much of my fault as it was his fault, because I hired him to do the job without checking out references and things like that. So if we’re a victim, we have no responsibility and there’s really not a lot we can do to go change our future.

And another thing that I learned, it’s not the easy times that make us grow. Okay? How many of you agree with that? And I was listening to a training this morning and the guy said, “Hey, you know what? What determines how high an arrow will go is how much resistance you give it and how far you pull it back.” So a lot of times we think, I know I’ve been there. There’s times in my life I’m like, “Man, am I being punished?” Really, I wasn’t being punished by God. I was being prepared for the next chapter in my life.

So when I stopped being a victim and blaming someone else, which means that I had no over my future, things started to change for me. When I changed my perspective on, “You know what? This can make me bitter or I can use it to make me better.” I can use this as a stumbling block or I can use it as a building block. Am I just going to go through it or am I going to grow through it? It took a different change in mindset, a different change in philosophy and attitude. Because if you don’t change your philosophy, if you don’t change your attitude and the way you look at things, then your life is not going to change. It takes a different way of thinking to get to another level.

The same thinking that got you to where you are right now is not the same thinking that will get you to the next level. So not being a victim, changing my perspective, changing my attitude made a huge difference. The next thing that I learned and let me know if that makes sense. Obstacles lead to elevation, obstacles lead to elevation. It’s just like when you go in the gym. When you go in the gym, the only thing your muscles are going to grow if you give them resistance. If you start really tearing them down so they can build back and grow stronger. And that’s the same thing that happens with us.

It’s Not The Easy Times That Make us Gros

It’s not the easy times that make us grow. We don’t grow during those easy times. And so when you start having those obstacles, which by the way, Rick Warren, how many of you have ever read Rick Warren or listened to Rick Warren? He wrote the Purpose Driven Life. It’s one of the best-selling books of all times. And he said, “Either you’re in a storm, you’re going out of a storm or you’re getting ready to go into a storm. That’s life. This too shall pass.” Let me know. Smash that heart button if you agree with me. And then make sure you have some people that you think this will make an impact on their life, tag them in the comments, share it with them.

But he says, “You’re either in a storm, out of a storm or getting ready to go into a storm. This too shall pass.” So right now things are going terrible. You’re like, “Oh my gosh, I can’t believe it. I feel like the weight of the world is on my shoulders.” This too shall pass. If things are phenomenal and they’re going great, this too shall pass. The only thing you can predict is there’s going to be storms in your life. And the way that we think about and the way we respond during those storms is everything.

The compound effect. Let me share something else that I learned during those times. Again, I’m just giving you some life lessons. This is not like structured do this, this, this. What I’m going over right now if you get one thing out of this entire training, it can absolutely change your life. And I’m telling you this is some powerful stuff and it’s not me. It’s what I learned from my mentors over the last 28 years that completely changed my world. And if it changed my world, I promise you it can change your world.

You’re Going To Find What Your Looking For

So there was a point in time where I was having that pity party where I was a victim and everybody’s out to do me wrong. And why is it that a lot of bad things always happen to me? And guess what? If we think that way it does. What we seek seeks us. Okay? What you look for, you’re going to find. What you focus on is you’re going to attract thoughts or things. Not only is it in the Bible, but it’s also the science backs it up. What you think about, you truly do bring about and your thoughts are like magnets. They’re going to attract to you what you’re thinking about, what you’re focused on.

So be very careful what you think about. Think about what you’re thinking about. Be very careful what you focus on because where your focus goes, energy flows. And when I was sitting there playing that pity party game and I’m like, “Well, they must come from big cities. I live in a small town. Of course, they can have success. Well, they have a college education. I have a lack of education. No wonder they’re successful. Well, they must be great public speakers. I’ll pass out in front of five people.”

True story. Like if I used to have to get in front of five people, the only year and a half I went to speech class, I’m just being transparent with you, I knew the 10 or 15 people in the speech class. But if I knew I had to speak in front of those people, I couldn’t sleep nights before. Anybody else terrified to speak in front of people? And I would sweat in front of the class and shake in front of the class and I go, “Man it’d be nice if I just had a little fender bender, a little wreck on the way to class, that’d be a good excuse not to have to do the speech.”

The Compact Effect

So if you’d have told me then, “Darin, you’ll be speaking in front of 25, 30, 40,000 people” like I have, I would have said, “You have lost your mind. There’s no way ever.” And so when I was sitting in the back of a room having a pity party and I heard different trainers and mentors and entrepreneurs that were talking about things and I’m like, “You know what? Can I get a little bit better today than I was yesterday?” Can you get a little bit better today than you were yesterday? Yes, you can. You’re doing it right now. Here’s how I know who wants to go out there and make a major change in their life. You’re watching this right now. You stay on to the very end. You’ll probably watch it on replay. You’re hungry. I didn’t have this when I was going through those times.

We didn’t have the internet. I had to go search out someone, find the books and read the books and listen to it. At that time it was audio cassette programs. My grandmother was an Aflac agent and she had these cassette tapes, the Psychology of Achievement and different things like that. And I was like, “Grandma, can I borrow this tapes?” I just wanted a better life so bad I was willing to do whatever it took as long as it was honest and ethical to get that done. And so if you do those things today, if you read 10 pages out of a good book a day, that’s about a book a month. In 10 years you’ve read 100 books. Most people hadn’t read 10 or maybe you’re watching 15, 20, 30 minutes of a training every single day instead of the radio.

It’s okay to listen to the radio, but it’s basically chewing gum for the mind. But can you spend 20, 30 minutes a day on your way to work on your way home right before you go to bed, listen to something positive that’s going to help you get to where you want to be? That’s going to change thinking, change your philosophy, change the way you look at things. Because once again, the same thinking that got you to where you are is not the same thinking that’s going to get you to the next level in your life in any aspect of your life.

So when I learned that compound effect about doing things today, this seemed to make no difference at all and the act of doing them. You get off this training, this live, in a few minutes you’re not going to see a drastic difference in your life. But someone else they do not get on here, you do, your life will pretty much look the same. And I remember getting frustrated during those times when, “You know what? Why am I doing all these things? When a lot of times it looks like they’re doing better than I am, but I’m doing all the things these people keep telling me to do.” And so it looked pretty much the same, the same path.

But over a period of time, my business, my life, my income, my lifestyle did this and there’s this. And then you will have people come back to you. Can I get an amen on this? And they’ll say, “You must have gotten lucky.” And then in your mind, you’re being nice, but you’re going, “You know what? Luck had nothing to do with it.” Successful people do what unsuccessful people are not willing to do. And I was willing to do what you were willing to do to have what you don’t have. That’s going to be your thought process because you did.

And what’s what’s fascinating to me. I used to think that if I wanted to change my life, make a lot of money and I looked at the people where I wanted to be, I thought they were so much better than everyone else. It’s not. They’re not that much better. It’s just they do simple things on a daily basis, little 1% things that compound that’s good or bad. That could be with our eating. If I go eat a Big Mac, French fries, milkshake today, hopefully I wouldn’t have a heart attack today.

Focus on Actions, Not Results

But if I ate that every day over a period of time, I’m going to die of a heart attack most likely or a stroke or something else because I’m digging a grave with my teeth. So another tip to success is focus on doing those simple things. Don’t worry about the results. Understand the compound effect, that multiplication effect. It’s the penny a day and double it for 30 days. A penny a day and double it for 30 days. When I asked my daughters, “Hey, look, would you rather have a million dollars or a penny a day and double it for 30 days?” One of them said, “A million dollars” immediately. The other one said, “Well, I’ll take the penny a day.” Well, I’m like, “Well, the one that took the million dollars lost about nine or 10 million.”

Because if you take a penny a day and double it for 30 days, the first three weeks you’re looking like, “Dang, I made the wrong decision.” But then the last few days, it compounds to over $10 million if you take that down to 30 or 31 days. So the compound effect completely changed my world. For once in my life I go, “You know what? I can do that.” I can get a little bit better today than I was yesterday. And by the way, most people are not to do what you’re doing right now. If you go, “Look, I would like to have something different than the masses,” it’s pretty simple. You do something different than the masses. And what’s simple to do is simple not to do.

It’s easy to jump on here and listen to this live. It’s also easy not to do. It’s easy to jump off early. It’s easy not to take notes, but those of you that are serious like I was and I still am. I consume hours of content every single day. I’m working on me, one of the best. Even though the podcast that I was interviewed on yesterday that will be coming out soon, My Worst Investment Ever from the number one financial analyst in Thailand that interviewed me yesterday. I said the worst investment ever was me doing what I mentioned at the beginning of this with the best investment advice I have for you is investing in yourself because you go with you everywhere you go.

We Make What We Are: So Become More

And we don’t make what we want, we make what we are. So the compound effect. Okay? Which is the next part. We don’t make what we want, we make what we are. Let me know if this is making sense to you in the comments. I see we got Gavin from Australia. We got Ron. Hey Ron. We got Kelly. Hey Kelly out in Charlotte, North Carolina. “Put your inner energy toward victim or victor. You choose.” Lynette, I love that. So that is awesome. Let’s see who else? Let me know if you’re getting aha moments. We’ve got Monet from Germany. We’ve got Louis from South Africa. Hey, feel free. Let me know in the comments if you are doing that. Sprinkle the love.

Next thing. And again, this is more than I would normally do. I normally try to keep these trainings a little bit shorter, but I’m here to make an impact on your life, not just do a training. In case you can’t tell, I’m not selling anything. I’m just trying to give value to you that I wish I would have had 28 years ago and I don’t want you to spend 28 years. The next thing we don’t make what we want, we make what we are. Why do most people win the lottery go broke? Not just go broke, go back to a place worse than where they were before they ever won the lottery. Some of them commit suicide. They go, “I wish I’d never played” because they didn’t become a multimillionaire. They were given millions of dollars and our income always comes back to where we are.

So if we want to make more, we have to become more. How do we become more? It’s what you’re doing right now. It’s reading the books. It’s listening to the podcast and the YouTube videos and the lives. It’s courses. It’s all those things. That’s how you become more because you you can take a multimillionaire, take all their money away, they’ll go back and do it again because they became a multimillionaire. Where the one that won the lottery, they gave them millions of dollars and our income always comes back to where we are. So work on you every single day.

And again, don’t focus on the results. It’s about progress, not perfection. It’s about progress, not perfection. Get a little bit better, a little bit better because time’s going to pass anyway. Why not get better? Work towards the best version of yourself. Let me know if you’re getting any aha moments. So again, I’ve got a couple more tips for you that could absolutely change your world.

Ask The Right Questions

Another thing, asks the right questions, ask the right questions. When I say think about what you think about, thinking is merely asking and answering yourself. So when you ask questions, like I used to. “Hey, why do bad things always happen to me?” And I wasn’t paying attention to what I would speak. Change your thinking, change what you say, you will change your life. Let me give you a challenge just for the rest of this month. Okay? The rest of this month, pay attention to what you say. If you go, “I can’t afford it. I can’t recruit. I can’t get customers.” Your brain wants to be right. And the science proves that your subconscious will fill your conscious mind with all the reasons you can’t do what you just said.

Instead of saying, “How can I recruit? How can I make an impact? What can I learn from these challenging times? How can I use this to get a little bit better?” I just did this recently and the results I will share in a few months from now. But I can tell you, it was like a gateway of things that opened up in my life that I can’t wait to share with you, but I want to give it some time. And so what are the questions that you’re asking yourself? What are you thinking? What are you speaking?

Negative Thoughts are More Powerful Than Positive

And by the way, a negative thought is four to seven times more powerful than a positive. A negative thought is four to seven times more powerful than a positive. When you verbalize it, when you verbalize it, you multiply it 10 times. And this didn’t come from me. This came from a guy that trained some of the top athletes and professional sports teams and the world. And the first thing that he does when he starts coaching them is he goes, “There’s no negative talk, none.” So listen to the phrases that you use on a daily basis. Something as simple as this. “Hey, I can’t remember.” I caught myself saying that a couple of days ago and I go, “No, it will come to me in a few minutes” and it did.

So your brain wants to be right. Be careful what you speak, be careful what you think, be careful who you associate with and what you put into your head. Now he asked me this on the podcast yesterday. “What advice do you have? What advice do you have for other people that are out there looking to better your life?” Well, here’s one piece of advice. And by the way, I just threw back up that free resource that I have available. If you have not downloaded that, make sure to download that. You also can go to DarinKidd.com for more free content.

Have a Mentor

But the advice that I have is if you have goals whether it’s health, wealth, spiritual, and I hope you have goals in every area of your life. Don’t try to figure it out yourself. Find a coach, find a mentor, read the books, buy the courses because the best investment you ever make is in yourself. Why would you spend? Let’s just say this, for example. I’ve owned franchises. For 28 years I was a distributor in the direct sales, home-based business, network marketing world. For seven years, I failed, then I had a lot of success. I was very blessed.

Why would you spend 28 years trying to figure out what to do when you can jump on some of the things that I give you? Where I’ve had people that hired me as a coach or people are. Now I’ve got companies that have hired me. Well, I can help shave years off your learning curve, compressed timeframes. I call it success compression. Do you know how many of my friends make fun of me when they found out how much I was paying other people for like one VIP day? I paid people anywhere from 10 to $15,000 or more for one day of their time.

And I’ve had friends and family go, “That’s stupid. That is just stupid.” I’m like, “No, what’s stupid is me spending the next 10 to 20 years trying to figure out what they know and how much money is that going to cost me? How much time is that going to cost me away from my family? If I can pay them that for one day and download decades or years in a day, why would I not want to do that?” And every time I have hired someone like that or I’ve invested in a course or something where I could take decades and turn into days or whatever or read a book. I’ve ended up generating more income a lot of times in a month than I paid them for one day, but it continued to pay me and it compounded.

So find a mentor, find a coach, read the books. Consume that information. Garbage in, garbage out. And your brain is the most powerful computer ever. Again, invest in yourself. We talked about be intentional with your associations. And then he asked me this, “What was my number one goal over the next 12 months?” I want to share it with all of you because it holds me accountable. My goal in the next 12 months because I’ve now transferred over or I’ve pivoted where I’m no longer a distributor in network marketing. I’m no longer a franchise owner. I’ve built a digital brand over the last several years of several 100,000 followers.

My goal is to impact over one million people’s lives in the next 12 months, over a million. That’s a minimum number. That’s my minimum goal. And guess what? I’m going to do it because I know how I felt when I was depressed. It hurt to even look up. I didn’t want to leave my house. I didn’t want to have conversations with people. I didn’t want to hear the hype. I didn’t want to be motivated. I just had to have that, by the way, day of disgust. Have any of you ever had a day of disgust in your life?

When someone asked me yesterday, I think it was him. Yeah, it was him. He said, “Look, can you think of a day where just that day impacted your life?” And I’m like, “Oh, I can tell you a day. I can tell you the exact day that everything changed in my life.” You can’t change your life overnight, but you can change the direction of your life overnight. And by the way, if you know some people who need to hear this, share it. It costs nothing to be a good human being and share this with other people if you believe this will make an impact in their life.

The Most Challenged Moments in Your Life Are Preparing You

It was the day because see, growing up, phenomenal parents, but my dad passed away 10 years ago. I remember every day was a struggle financially in our home. And when my dad passed away saying, “Someday we’ll go do this and someday we’ll go do that.” And guess what? Someday never came. And I remember driving my mom away from the hospital when she’s bawling and crying and said, “I will smack the next person that says that money’s not that important because look at how much time it robbed our family. And now it’s too late.” But I also learned that some people some days are other people’s everydays. And someday leads to a town called nowhere.

And so the day that changed my world was the day we had my daughter. Now we had her, but we had this Coca-Cola plastic piggy bank. And we said, “Someday …” Thank you, Lisa, for doing that for sharing. “Someday, we will go to Disney World someday, someday.” And she runs and we’re putting this change in this piggy bank every day. And one day she comes in and she sees my wife and I on the floor in the bedroom with the change everywhere, picking out nickels and dimes and quarters trying to get enough to go get something to eat. And she runs out of the room crying because we’re taking her money for Disney World.

And I remember tears in my eyes and I still get teary-eyed thinking about it going, “God, how could I get so low to where I am taking my child’s money for Disney World?” And breakthroughs only happen when they have to. That was the day I drew a line in the sand. I walked into the bedroom I was using as an office and I put on the wall “I will until.” I don’t care how long I go. I go, “Other people can quit on their family. I will not quit on them. I will until.” And a mentor of mine said, “Darin, you know success is buried right underneath frustration.”

And I remember going, “Dude, well, I have to be close because I can’t get any more frustrated than I am right now.” So if you’ve ever felt like that, where you go, “You know what? I don’t know how I can keep it going much longer. I don’t know how I can keep doing these things.” Trust me, it is dark just right before the light. You are right there. I mean, a breakthrough is just ahead. And sometimes that rejection is redirection. Sometimes those things you’re going through, you’re not being punished. I just think I was being punished by God.

I’m like, “I’m not being punished.” Now I realized I was being prepared for the next level. I realized now that the further that bow and arrow is pulled back and the more pressure, the more you’re pulled back and the more pressure you have on you, the higher you’re going to go. Sometimes that crushing when you look at that eagle and that little eaglet if you call it an eaglet I guess. I don’t know. When it pushes it out of the nest. I mean, that’s pretty tough for the little eaglet, but what it’s doing it’s causing them to have to grow. How to fly. It stops feeding them. They have to feed themselves.

So some of the most challenging times in your life could be the biggest blessing. If you do the things that we shared earlier, I shared earlier on this live. And then the last question that he asked me, he goes, “Well, any last words of wisdom?” And I’m just giving you paraphrase and I’m saying some things I didn’t say yesterday. And I said some things on there that I didn’t say here, but I go, “Yeah, you got to be persistent and you got to be consistent, and you have to have a good attitude.” And here’s the key too. You have to push and you have to go forward when you don’t feel like it.

The only way you fail is to quit. That’s the only way. My attitude is I don’t fail, I win or I learn. If you only push forward when you feel like it, you’re never going to get there. So what is the life that you want to have? Visualize that. Very important. When you visualize your goals, your dreams, last tip. See, I can’t help but keep sharing. Thank you for sharing. I love it, Lynette. I will until. It’s dark before the light. You’re exactly right. Appreciate that.

But here’s the thing. When you visualize the way you want your life to be, your brain and this is all proven. This is not my opinion. This is not a theory. This is proven. Your brain, your body produces the same chemicals and endorphins as if that experience actually happened. So your brain encodes that as a memory. And then we move in the direction of our expectations. We move in the direction of what we’re familiar with. So then it’s like the world starts conspiring to do you good and you magnetize the condition that you seek, and your thoughts are things. And so you truly do bring about what you think about and that reticular activating system, that RAS, that filter between your ears starts to search out because it wants to be right to bring you the experience that you’ve already experienced.

Oh my gosh, this is so good and none of it’s mine. It’s all stuff I’ve learned from my mentors. So think about tonight. What do you really want in your life? Sit down, do a dream board. I mean, take off your judge’s robe. If money, time or no option, where would you go? Where would you travel? Who would you help? What would you buy? I mean, just start. Turn that dream machine back on. Start visualizing and thinking about the life that you really want. I don’t know how many tips I gave you to success, but again, I just want to make an impact in your life.

In the last few weeks, I feel so blessed. The flood gates have opened. The flood gates have opened. I have never had so many people messaging me, sharing with me some of the things that have impacted their life, which has fueled me more than ever. I’ve never had more people reaching out to me about coaching, more companies reaching out to me. And it just confirms that hopefully I’m making an impact in your life and other people. And my goal over the next 12 months is to impact over a million people and I’m going to do it. I am going to do it.

That’s why I wanted to put on this live, so you go, “Hey, Darin told us on July 9th, 2020, 2020.” He said he’s going to impact over a million people and we’re going to do it, and we’re going to do it together. So as I end, I want to thank you in advance for the memories we’re all going to create together. I want to thank you in advance. So I appreciate each and every one of you. Have a blessed rest of your day. Let’s go out and let’s make this an amazing rest of the month. And I appreciate each and every one of you. See you next time.
