Hey, happy Friday. I hope you are having a great day and I hope your week is going well. This is Darin Kidd, and I appreciate you tuning in. Hey Stacy, thanks for joining. All right, we’re going to go ahead and get into the training segment. I’m going to keep this brief, but again, I know that I have people that are following on this platform, whether it’s real estate, mortgage, the home-based business world, it really doesn’t matter.
Social Media is Rented Land
But one thing that I’ve learned, especially in the last 12 months, more than ever is that social media is rented land. And so if you are just dependent and all your business is on social media, that’s scary because I have so many stories over the last 12 months, and I have a solution for you. So you want to make sure you wait until the end. And so I can give you the solution on how to make sure you’re prepared for this. So what happens is in the last 12 months especially, I have heard of so many people that have had their pages or their social media accounts, what do they call it, Shadow banned, where no one sees it, or they’ve been locked in Facebook jail, or they’ve had their accounts deleted.
And some of them made no sense at all because some of them had a description of what they did. They had their company name in their description, but because it had one letter and that letter referenced an organization that was doing some crazy things, they had nothing to do with it, they lost their whole social media account and to the point where they were actually having to get legal counsel on how to go to Facebook to try to get their accounts back. Now, we hope that doesn’t happen. We try to do the right things, but the point is social media is rented land. You don’t own it. I don’t own it. And so there’s a lot of tips. I definitely recommend you download your contacts on social media and that type of thing. But social media is a tool and it’s a very powerful tool.
And today, and I could go into how to transfer your contacts on the different platforms. We’re not going to go into that. But what I’m going to do is talk to you about something when you first hear it, you may go, “Well, how is it that big a deal?” But I want you to stay with me and then I’ll give you the solution. Even if you’re having massive results on social media, right, which there’s a lot of you that are doing a great job when it comes to social media. Do you realize that only one to 2% of your audience ever sees your posts? And there are things that we can do to try to increase that. But if you have 5,000 friends on Facebook or you have a page like I do, like some of you are watching on my business Facebook page.
Build Your Email List
And so again, thanks for subscribing, make sure you subscribe and you like, whether it’s on YouTube or Facebook, but we have 160 some thousand people on that page. But if I look at the number of people that actually see the posts that I’m posting, it could be anywhere from a couple thousand reach and you can’t see these numbers, but I can, and then sometimes it’ll go up five or 10,000, but considering it’s 160,000 plus people on that page, that’s a very small percentage. I had someone recently say that email is not that big a deal. I beg to differ. I was looking at some quotes from some of the biggest social media influencers in the world right before I jumped on this training. And they were saying, “My number one most powerful resource is my email list.”
YOU own your list!
So if you send out an email, if you have an email list, 22% will go to spam and junk, but that’s still a 78% delivery rate. Social media, 1 to 2%. If you have an email list that you own, Facebook doesn’t own it, Twitter doesn’t own it, right? Then that’s a 78% delivery. And even if they don’t read it right now, it’s going to sit in their inbox unread until they do read it. So here are some reasons that I recommend that you really start to think about building a list, because money follows influence and money follows eyeballs. And number one, you own it. Okay? That’s the number one tip. I’m going to give you three tips really quick. Number one, you own your list. No one else does. You control that list.
Prospects Need Value
Number two, you have qualified prospects that are interested in what you do. So how do you build a list? Again, I told you I’m going to give you a solution here in just a minute. But you build a list by developing some very simple things that are free like a lead magnet. They call them a lead magnet. I’ve heard people call them a freemium. It could be a checklist. And when you develop these things, let’s say that you’re in a health and wellness company, right? You’re developing things that interest the people that you’re trying to attract, right? Your vibe attracts your tribe. So if you’re giving them some free value when it comes to, maybe how to reduce inflammation with your diet, here are the top foods to avoid and the top foods that you want to eat.
And I’m just making this stuff up. And you’re going, here’s a checklist. And they’re willing to give you their email for that checklist. You’re building a list of people that are interested in what you have to offer. So you build a qualified list and that’s extremely important because when you’re spending the majority of your time talking to people that are interested and have the same interest as you do, it’s a lot easier to lead that to a new customer or a new rep in your business. Or if you’re in real estate and you’re giving top tips that are going to allow them to help find their next dream home, again, you’re going to start attracting the right people, which is going to make it easier for you to convert that into business and profits.
Keep Your Name In Front of Your Business
There’s a saying when it comes to the online marketing world, I guess it’s online and offline, but it’s one that I’ve heard recently more than once. If you talk to everyone, you talk to no one. So once again, when you’re building that list of people that have the interest that are going to take in and lead them to allowing you to help them solve their problems, makes a big difference. And number three, last but not least, then we’ll do a little Q&A and I’ll give you what to do when it comes to the solution, it keeps your name in front of your prospects. If only one to 2% of your people on social media see what you even post, then that leaves 98 to 99% of the people that never see your posts.
And then we know that it used to take five to eight exposures to make a sale, and now they’re saying that it’s taking over 15 because we used to see a few hundred ads a day, now it’s several thousand ads a day. So when you build your own list and you’re not counting on just social media, now the list is in addition to what you’re doing. So if you’re building your business right now, this is not to distract you. This is only to do it in addition to what you’re doing. But it helps you build a relationship with your audience. So the more times they see your name in front of them, and if you’re giving value to that audience, right? People want to do business with people they know, like, and trust.
So it makes it easier to convert them into a happy customer, a happy client. You can follow up at any time, right? When you control that list, right? You can send an email out at any time following up, you can let them know about new products or new services. You can let them know about new promotions and they want to hear about it because they have interest in what you’re doing, that topic. And then you can let people know about products. So those are the three tips, and now I’m going to give you the solution. So let’s just recap. Number one, you own the list, right? I can’t tell you how many people I know recently that have lost their social media pages. And some of them have gotten them back, some of them have not.
And so if they built years building that list, like for me, I don’t know how many years it’s been building my list or my Facebook page, and if that 160 some thousand went away, that would be hard to swallow. Number two, you have qualified prospects that are interested in what you do. And number three, you keep your name in front of your prospects. You build a relationship, keep them updated. So here’s the solution. Okay? Here’s the solution. Let me put up something on the page. And I’m like, you know what? Now I understand how important it is to build my list and the same thing with me. Okay? I was in a company building my business, but on the side, I’m like, you know what? I had a friend of mine say, “Look, dig your well before you’re thirsty.” Okay? Dig your well before you’re thirsty. So what did I do? Right? I started building my list. So when I made a decision to transfer over into coaching and speaking, and developing courses, and working with companies, right now I’m working with companies, consulting, working with their leadership, helping them implement strategies and techniques with the company to take it to the next level.
I didn’t start from scratch. I had a massive list of many thousands of followers from all over the world. And so what it did, it gave me a head start. I would have hated the thought of starting from zero. But what I did, I know that it’s smart to find someone that has what you want and model what they do. So I hired Tanya, because I’m like, she spent years figuring this stuff out and it made a major impact in my business. So this is not something that I’m pushing. This is not my course. And so what used to be in a month has now turned into a day, and then this is going faster and faster. And those are people that are all interested in what I have to offer.
